PhD-Student_in Computational Biology/Bioinformatics (Germany)

We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student in Computational Biology/Bioinformatics and goal-oriented team player! The candidate will work on innovative projects on chronic lung diseases using state-of-the-art technologies such as single cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics. The researcher will be embedded in a close collaboration between Hannover Medical School, the German Center for Lung Research and the Fraunhofer Institute for Toxicology and Experimental Medicine.



Your tasks


Implementation, development and extension of methods for single cell RNAseq and spatial transcriptomics processing and analysis.
Collaboration on the generation of single-cell RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics data
biological interpretation of the data
Development of scientific web tools
Writing of scientific papers



Our requirements


Openness towards cutting-edge technologies, establishment of new technologies and computational approaches
Interest in biological/respiratory research questions and applications
Passion for science and scientific work
Good knowledge of R/Python and Linux
Experience with computational work on high performance clusters
Good spoken and written English



We offer


Three-year Ph.D. position. The position is funded in accordance with regulations of the German TV-L salary scales.
